Rajasthan: Congress MLAs end ‘dharna’ at Raj Bhawan

Ashok Gehlot handed over support letter of 102 MLAs to the Governor

Jaipur: Following the assurances of Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra, the Congress and its supporting legislators’ sit-in at the Raj Bhavan ended on Friday night. These MLAs went to meet the Governor to collectively urge them to convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly and then sat on a dharna there. The Governor has assured the Congress MLAs that they will follow the constitution without any pressure and malice in this matter. State Medical Minister Raghu Sharma told reporters that Governor Mishra has asked some questions regarding the assembly session. The Cabinet will consider them and send the reply to the Governor.

After the agitation ended, Randeep Surjewala of the Congress told reporters that the CM wanted to prove his majority. He has called an assembly session on the Corona crisis. He wants to pacify those who are saying that Congress does not have a majority. The Governor has told us that he is with the Constitution. He has also given a note to C.M. We trust the governor. There is a State Cabinet meeting tonight at 9:30.

Earlier, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said – Governor is our constitutional head. I have no hesitation in saying that the Governor will not stop the session if there is any pressure from above. Why didn’t they decide yesterday? We have asked them to take a decision as soon as possible. People are waiting. I am sure that the Governor will not come under any kind of pressure. He will decide. The assembly session is expected to begin soon. In such a situation, we are on dharna here. They will give us a letter, only then we will take some further decisions.
