Rahul Gandhi Hits Out at BJP Over Chinese Intrusion

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi claimed on Friday that the country’s national security is “unforgivably jeopardised” because the administration lacks a China policy. He highlighted a news storey in which the Ministry of External Affairs and the Chief of Defence Staff expressed opposing views on the China border problem. The dispute regarding the Chinese moving into Indian land and creating a new hamlet is “not accurate,” according to Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, who added that the communities were far within the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

He also claimed that China had not violated the “perception” of the LAC in India. The External Affairs Ministry had previously stated in response to the US report that India does not accept China’s “illegal possession of its land” or any unreasonable Chinese claims.

Mr Gandhi tweeted, “Our national security is unforgivably endangered since GOI has no plan and Mr 56″ is terrified,” in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “56-inch chest” statements. In the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi claimed that to turn Uttar Pradesh like Gujarat in terms of development, one needs a 56-inch chest.

P Chidambaram, a Congress member, said it’s past time for Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to draw a line in his ministry and tell the CDS to stay “far inside his side of the LAC.” “China is in ‘illegal possession’ of Indian land, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, and India would not tolerate ‘unjustified Chinese claims.’” ” Mr Chidambaram stated in a series of tweets that the Chinese “had not transgressed anywhere on our perspective of the LAC” and that they are “well inside their side of the LAC.”

The Chinese, according to the former Union finance minister, are laughing all the way from the Plenum to the Communist Party’s 20th Congress. During the 13th round of military negotiations between the two nations last month, India and China failed to make any progress in resolving the 18-month deadlock in the remaining contention spots in eastern Ladakh. In the critical eastern Ladakh section of the LAC, each side has roughly 50,000 to 60,000 troops.
