Punjab National Bank Accused Arrested by CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a fleeing suspect in a bank fraud case at Delhi’s International Airport. A case was filed against Aarti Kalra, her husband Sunny Kalra, and others on December 16, 2015, alleging that the accused (Director of White Tiger Steels Pvt Ltd) fraudulently obtained a bank loan of Rs.10 crore (approximately) from Punjab National Bank, Darya Ganj Branch, New Delhi, in October 2013.

It was also claimed that after a few months, the accused began failing to make regular interest payments and malafidely withdrew all of the items pledged to the bank, causing the loan account to become non-performing. Both of the defendants have been missing since the lawsuit was filed.

The possibility of further inquiry was remained open. In 2016, Red Corner Notices were issued against both accused because they refused to cooperate with the inquiry.

Sunny Kalra (her husband) was arrested in Muscat, Oman, and deported to India on March 7, 2020, under the current RCN. On August 20, 2021, the CBI captured the other absconding accused, Aarti Kalra, when she arrived at Delhi International Airport from the United Arab Emirates. The offender was apprehended and taken before the Competent Court in New Delhi, remanded in judicial custody.
