Priyanka Gandhi held a virtual meeting with RRB NTPC protesters students

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, virtually spoke with some young people living in rented apartments in Prayagraj who were allegedly beaten up during a police raid on Thursday night, January 25. She pledged them her full support in their battle. She also stated that she would visit Sangam City soon and speak with them face to face.

The Zoom conference came after footage surfaced on January 25 of police officers barging into lodges housing students and aspirants for various government recruitment examinations, busting through doors and caning people late at night.

Angry applicants had attempted to block trains at Prayag railway station hours before the police raid, upset over some sections of the Railway Recruitment Board’s Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) recruitment exam.

When the aspirants failed to disperse, the police, Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrived on the scene, along with railway officials, and the police used mild force. The cops detained some of the protestors as well. Leaders from across the political spectrum, including the Congress, the SP, and the BSP, have all expressed their displeasure with this.

Priyanka emphasised her party’s commitment to release a clear ’employment calendar’ if they win the forthcoming assembly election. The calendar will list the dates of recruitment tests, interviews, and appointments, according to the party. The Congress has also said that the hiring procedure will be finished within six months of the job announcement date.
