Nine people died due to lightning in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Nine people, including five members of the same family, died on Saturday in different districts of Jharkhand due to lightning.

According to the information received here from Khunti, five members of a family of one died due to lightning in Larta village located in Karra of the district. It is said that Manga Munda and other members of his family, working in the field, were standing under a tree to avoid the sudden onset of rain when a thunderstorm struck. Manga Munda (60), his wife Jeevanti Mundine (55), their son Poona (28), daughter-in-law Jayma (25) and one-year-old grandson died on the spot.

At the same time, Satish Kumar (18), a youth fishing in Vishrampur in Palamu district, and Ankush, a six-year-old boy playing in Bela village in Hunterganj, Chatra, died due to lightning.

On the other hand, in Lapung of Ranchi district, while grazing cattle, woman Sunita Devi (38) died of burns due to lightning. Naresh Sahu (35), who was farming in Badmara village located in Kudu of Lohardaga, is reported to have died due to lightning.
