Digital Locking For Tankers Carrying Molasses And Ethnol

In its bid to check illegal supply of molasses and alcohol to notorious persons invloved in illegal production of liquor, the state government has decided to seal the tankers carrying molasses from sugar mills and ethnol and alcohol digitally.

The Excise Commissioner Senthil Pandian has issued directives in this regard. He said that in order to put complete check on theft from tankers and prevent manufacture and sale of illicit liquor ,the department has introduced installation of digital lock which can be opened only at their destinations. “The new system will be supervised by Assistant Excise Commissioners appointed in distilleries and Sub Excise Inspector in sugar mills” he said.
The Excise Commissioner said that CCTV cameras will be installed on all the Excise shops to prevent over rating, tampering with the quality of liquor and checking other illegal activities at the shops. ” Cameras have been installed at about 18000 shops out of 27500 shops across the state” Pandian said.

Meanwhile Excise Department has been allotted a new five digit toll free number “14405” on which any complaint regarding unfair liquor practice can be registered. “The previous toll free number “18001805331” is also operational for the aforesaid purpose” added Excise Commissioner.
