Lucknow: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has hit out at West Bengal chief minister and Trinimool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee over her remark on his party claiming that has never sold himself to the communal forces.
” We have not started preparing for the West Bengal polls but still TMC was trying to defame us after the Bihar Polls. We have never compromised with BJP . But the TMC leader was with the NDA during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure and she was a union minister. Besides, TMC has never criticised the BJP on their role in Gujurat riots,” he alleged while claiming that it shows how much some soft corner she has for the BJP.”
“No one can buy Asaduddin Owaisi with money. Her allegation is baseless and she is restless. She should worry about her own home, so many of her people are going to BJP. She has insulted the voters of Bihar and the people who voted for us in Bihar. Now it is her turn to face the music,” he stressed.
Talking to mediapersons here during his day long visit to Lucknow on Wednesday, to meet some smaller party leaders including Om Prakash Rajbhar of Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), Mr Owaisi said TMC was trying to give space to the BJP in West Bengal and it was witnessed during the last Lok Sabha polls in 2019 when BJP won 17 seats.
He categorically said AIMIM has not started preparation for the west Bengal polls but still TMC was afraid of him.
” So far you’ve only dealt with obedient Mir Jaffers and Sadiqs. You don’t like Muslims who think and speak for themselves. You’ve insulted our voters in Bihar. Remember what happened to parties in Bihar that kept blaming their failures on ‘vote cutters. Muslim voters aren’t your jagir,” Mr Owaisi said while reacting on the statement given by Ms Mamata Banerjee recently.
Reacting sharply on the charges made against him by the opposition of being B team of BJP, he said AIMIM has always stopped the BJP’s inroad everywhere whether it is Bihar or Hyderabad.
” In Bihar we won 5 seats after contesting in 20 seats but in the remaining 15 seats where we lost, we did not get such chunk of votes that opposition can blame us for their defeat against the NDA. Similarly in Hyderabad municipal polls, BJP lost the seats where Yogi Adityanath and Amit Shah campaigned, which shows who we played our cards against these forces,” he added.
AIMIM had won 5 seats in Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region in Bihar, bordering West Bengal.
