On Thursday, an explosion at the Ludhiana District Court Complex killed one person and wounded five others. The bomb occurred inside the public restroom on the second level, according to a lawyer who was present on the scene, at a time when the district court was open for business. The area has been blocked, according to Ludhiana Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, and forensic experts will gather samples from the blast scene. In response to a question about the preliminary inquiry, Bhullar stated that the source of the blast is unknown at this time. “Only one corpse has been found. The guy was either carrying or extremely close to the bomb. We are anticipating the arrival of a Delhi-based NSG team.

Meanwhile, Ajay Bhalla, the Union Home Secretary, called senior Punjab government officials to discuss the situation. The state administration has been asked to submit a report on the explosion to the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to sources, representatives from the NIA and the National Security Guard have arrived at the location to conduct an examination. A rape case against MLA Simarjeet Bains had been heard minutes before the bomb, and Bains had filed an application in response to non-bailable warrants issued against him. However, this occurred in the fifth-floor courtroom. “The bomb happened seconds after I left the premises,” claimed Advocate Harish Rai Dhanda, a SAD leader and counsel for the plaintiff in the case. Perhaps I was the intended target. The Congress government’s administration has failed miserably.”
Charanjit Singh Channi, the Chief Minister of Punjab, condemned “anti-national” groups for attempting to disrupt the state’s stability. Channi further stated that he will travel to Ludhiana to assess the situation and that any medical treatment for those harmed will be provided free of charge. “My condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and wishes of swift recovery for the injured,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, condemning the event. Those who are responsible must face severe consequences as soon as possible.” Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA for Ludhiana West, urged residents to remain calm. “There’s a pattern here – blasphemy, then blast.” There is an attempt to disrupt the peace in Punjab, but we should wait for the results of the investigation. Security lapses by the police will also be investigated.
