New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti has said that she will not contest elections till Article 370 is not restored in the state. Mufti said that even if her party wins the elections, she will not become the chief minister.
Mehbooba Mufti said she was not surprised when Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a meeting of political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. “There is a lot of harassment in this area,” she said.
Her remarks came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with top political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir at his Delhi residence. This was the first meeting between the Center with political leaders of the region after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories in August 2019.
