Mamta’s injury is an accident, not an attack: Election Commission

Kolkata: Election Commission statement has come on the incident of West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee’s leg injury. The Election Commission has concluded on the basis of separate reports that no attack on CM Mamata Banerjee has been done nor any evidence has been found. This meant that Mamata Banerjee’s injury in Nandigram was just an accident.

It is worth noting that this decision has been taken by the Election Commission today on the report of state Chief Secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay, Special Police Supervisor Vivek Dubey and Special Supervisor Ajay Nayak in the case of CM Mamta Banerjee’s injuries. A detailed report of this incident was submitted to the Commission on Saturday itself.

In fact, the Election Commission received a new and detailed report of the Chief Secretary of West Bengal late on Saturday evening. A few hours earlier, separate reports of Special Police Supervisor and Special Supervisor were also received. Due to this report, a meeting was called this afternoon and the matter was also discussed in detail. After this discussion, the Election Commission said that no evidence of attack on Mamta has been found.
