I don’t want to be MLA with muslim votes: Assam minister

New Delhi: Assembly elections are due in Assam this year. State Health, Education and Finance Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma has made a communal statement saying that Muslims do not vote for BJP. We do not even need their vote. He said, “BJP does not need Mia Muslim vote. These people are very communal. “

Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Assam Minister Hemant Sarma said, “These so-called Mias are very communal and are engaged in distorting the Assamese culture and Assamese language. Therefore, I have no hope of becoming an MLA by his vote. Further Sarma said, “Those who are openly challenging the Assamese culture and language and challenging the entire Indian culture, we do not want their votes.”

Earlier he had said, on the basis of experience, I am saying that Muslims do not vote for BJP. He did not vote for us in the panchayat and Lok Sabha elections. Even in the assembly elections, BJP will not get the seats where these Muslims have more votes. Sarma also said that as long as things like divorce, child marriage, polygamy are part of the lives of Muslims, we will not ask for votes from them. Some of our workers are from among them. If their morale does not fall, they will also field candidates in Muslim-dominated areas. Around 35 percent of the state’s population is Muslim.
