On September 11, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced his resignation. At the Raj Bhawan, a top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has presented his resignation letter. In a news conference following his unusual departure from the top job, Rupani claimed his resignation is in keeping with the “BJP’s history” of giving all party employees an equal chance.
“I am ready to serve in whatever capacity the party assigns to me,” Rupani said, adding that he supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. When asked under whose direction the BJP will contest the assembly elections next year, Rupani replied Modi’s central leadership directs the party.

The opposition has questioned Rupani’s resignation, with Congress working president Hardik Patel stating it demonstrates the BJP’s lack of faith in their chief minister. “The BJP says that their government has worked effectively throughout the past four years what is the need for an overnight change in leadership?” Patel noticed a TV channel.
Rupani, like the BJP, has been tight-lipped about his successor. At this point, it’s unclear what prompted Mr. Rupani’s departure. Mr. Rupani is the fourth BJP chief minister to retire in recent months, following the resignation of BS Yediyurappa as Karnataka’s chief minister in July and the double whammy in Uttarakhand, when Tirath Singh Rawat resigned just four months after succeeding Trivendra Rawat.
