Srinagar: Four terrorists were killed on Thursday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama and Kulgam districts.
It is noteworthy that during the last 24 hours, five terrorists, including a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander, have been gunned down by security forces in the Union Territory.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IPG) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar congratulated the security forces for conducting these operations without any damage.
Official sources said that on the basis of strong information about the presence of terrorists, Special Operation Team of the State Police, Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation at Puchal in Pulwama on Wednesday night.
According to sources, when the security forces personnel were moving towards a particular area, the terrorists hiding there started firing with automatic weapons. “After this the security forces retaliated and the encounter started,” the sources said. Sources said that two terrorists were killed in the encounter early today. The encounter was going on till the last information was received.
On the other hand, during a joint search operation of the Special Operations Team of the State Police, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Jordar area of Kulgam in the early hours of Thursday. “Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists have been killed so far during the encounter,” the sources said. According to sources, the encounter is on.
It is noteworthy that the top Hizbul commander Mehrajuddin Halwai alias Ubaid was killed on Wednesday in an encounter during a naka search in Handwara of Kupwara district.
