New Delhi: The movement of farmers on the Delhi border against the agricultural laws of the central government has been going on for the last 31 days. Meanwhile, Rakesh Tikait, leader of the Bhartiya Kisan Union, has made a big disclosure. Tikait says he is being threatened with death by an unknown person. Tikait says he received a threatening call from Bihar.
The farmer leader said that a call came on his mobile at around 5 pm on Saturday. The caller threatened to kill him. He informed his colleagues about this. Tikait told him that this call came from Bihar, a person was saying on the phone that there was a plan to kill you.
An FIR has been registered in connection with the death threat to Rakesh Tikait at Kaushambi police station in UP’s Ghaziabad. The case has been lodged under section 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which corresponds to charges of criminal intimidation by anonymous communication.
Superintendent of Police (II) Gyanendra Singh said that Tikait’s personal assistant Arjun Baliyan lodged the complaint in this regard. In his statement, Baliyan claimed that an unidentified caller threatened to kill Tikait.
Based on his complaint, the police have put the phone number in question under surveillance. Adequate security arrangements have also been made at the Ghazipur border to ensure the BKU leader’s safety. The police have formed a special team to further probe the complaint.
