1586 Arrested Only During On Going Month
Huge Quantity Of Liquor Seized And Furnaces Destroyed

Lucknow : In its bid to check and curb the flow of illicit liquor in the state the Excise Department is relentlessly cracking down on those indulged in heinous crime resulting arrest of 1586 persons during the on going month.

“Nearly one lakh litre illicit liquor has been seized and many furnaces have been destroyed beside registration of more than four thousands cases across the state in the month of September alone” commented Excise Commissioner Senthial Pandiyan on Thursday.

According to the Additional Chief Secretary Excise Sanjay Bhoosreddy said that enforcement drive against illicit liquor is not a one day affair but a sustained drive which will go on till this deadly illegal practice is wiped out.

He said that in a joint operation of Excise Department and police a huge consignment of foreign made liquor worth several lakhs was recovered from a truck in Gautambuddh Nagar district . A case was registered against concerned distllery of Rajasthan,Haryana and Punjab under appropriate sections.

During the month of September raids were conducted in many districts including Ghaziabad, Amroha, Pilibhit, Chitrakoot, Amethi, Gonda, Sant Kabeer Nagar, Hardoi, Raebareli, Jalaun, Maharajganj, Bahraich, Ballia Siddharthnagar and Barabanki.
