Worth Rs 1350 crores’ diamond-pearls brought back from Hong Kong
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken major action against Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam. The ED on Wednesday brought around 2340 kilograms of diamonds, pearls and jewelry from the firms of Hong Kong, which are valued at Rs 1350 crore, to be carved by Nirav Modi and Mehul Chowki.
The Enforcement Directorate said in a statement, “Today (Wednesday), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recalled 108 consignments of various foreign entities from Hong Kong to Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi. The value of these goods was declared at Rs. 1350 crore (approx.) .”
ED said, “These precious items include polished diamonds, pearls, pearls and silver jewelery, were kept in the warehouse of a logistics company in Hong Kong. These consignments were brought back to Mumbai today and the consignment weighed around 2340 kg. is.
ED said in its statement, this consignment was sent from Dubai to Hong Kong in the year 2018 and ED got the news in July of the same year. After this, contact with Hong Kong officials was brought to bring these goods to India. After all the procedures and formalities these goods have been brought to India.
