On Wednesday, heavy rains continued to pound areas of Delhi for the second day in a row. Weather sensors in the city recorded 112.1 mm of rain in 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the city’s most significant single-day rainfall in September in at least 12 years. Due to severe rains, there was traffic congestion and flooding in low-lying regions. Before leaving the house, people were urged to check for traffic congestion.

According to the Delhi Traffic Police, there is “obstruction in traffic near Azad Market Subway towards Pratap Nagar owing to water logging.” Near Lajpat Nagar Metro Station, Moolchand Bus Stand, Aurvindo Marg near AIIMS flyover, Near Jungpura metro, from AIIMS to Moolchand, and Ring Road near Moolchand red light, waterlogging was reported. On Tuesday, torrential rain fell in numerous sections of the national capital, causing flooding in several locations.

According to the IMD, 84.1 mm of rain fell till 5:30 p.m. In addition, according to IMD authorities, the temperature in the national capital on Tuesday evening was 26.8 degrees Celsius. According to authorities, the city’s lowest temperature climbed a few degrees to 28 degrees Celsius in the morning. According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi receives 125.1 mm of precipitation on average in September each year. This implies that on the first day of the month, Delhi received 90 per cent of its monthly rainfall allotment.

The Safdarjung region of Delhi received 112.1 mm of rain in the previous 24 hours, the most for a September day in at least 12 years. According to Mahesh Palawat, vice-president of Skymet Weather, a commercial forecasting firm, the monsoon pattern is shifting as a result of climate change.
