The Karnataka government made a COVID-19 vaccination certificate a requirement for entering public areas on Friday in response to an increase in daily coronavirus cases.
“Vaccination certificates would be strictly enforced as a universal pass before entering any public venue, including marketplaces, malls, pubs, bars, restaurants, and so on,” Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said.

Sudhakar previously said that the state’s overall first-dose vaccination rate is 99 percent, with 80 percent of the target population fully vaccinated. Passengers from other states will also be checked for COVID-19.
“There will be strict enforcement of presenting vaccination certificates, as a universal pass, before entering any public place, including markets, malls, pubs, bars, restaurants, etc” Karnataka’s health minister.
Following a meeting in Vidhana Sabha to address aspects of COVID-19 management, the actions have been taken.

The health minister previously stated that lockdown is not a cure for COVID-19 and that it is a strategy from the past. Sudhakar said today that 107 new instances of the Omicron variant were detected in Karnataka, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 333.
