
The Congress attacked the government over rising gasoline costs on Sunday, with former party head Rahul Gandhi taking a swipe at the administration, claiming that the government’s “tax dacoity” on petrol prices is rising and that there will be some relief if elections are held someplace. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, also blasted the Centre for rising gasoline and diesel prices, stating that the Modi administration had set new records for “causing misery” to the public.
The Congress national secretary took to Twitter to share a media story claiming that fuel prices had risen by a record Rs 23.53 this year. “Modi Ji’s government has a long history of causing civil unrest. Modi’s government has the highest unemployment rate. In the Modi administration, government properties are being auctioned. “Petrol prices have risen the greatest in a year: during the Modi government,” Gandhi remarked in a Hindi tweet.

In a tweet in Hindi, Rahul Gandhi slammed the administration, saying, “Tax dacoity over petrol pricing is escalating.” If elections are held elsewhere, it will provide some relief.” In his tweet, he included the hashtag’ TaxExtortion.’ Priyanka Gandhi’s main spokesperson, Randeep Surjewala, also took a shot at the government, tagging the same media source, and tweeted, “Achche Din” (good days).

Petrol and gasoline prices were raised by 35 paise per liter for the fifth day in a row on Sunday, bringing pump rates to a new high across the country. According to a price notice from state-owned fuel retailers, the price of petrol in Delhi reached an all-time high of Rs 107.59 per liter and Rs 113.46 per liter in Mumbai. Diesel currently costs Rs 104.38 a liter in Mumbai, while it costs Rs 96.32 in Delhi.
