Chinese forces retreat at Hot Springs and Gogra, also remove structure: report

New Delhi: China continued the gradual withdrawal of troops from face-off sites in Hot Springs and Gogra in East Ladakh for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, along with the Chinese military removing temporary infrastructure. At the same time, the Indian Army is closely monitoring their movement. Gogra and Hot Springs are among the major strained points where the two armies were in a face-to-face situation for the past eight weeks.

Government sources said a “substantial” evacuation of the army has been carried out by the Chinese military from two stressed points.

The evacuation process began on Monday morning after nearly two hours of telephonic conversations between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday, during which they agreed to prompt withdrawal of troops from the area. Explain that Doval and Wang are special representatives for border talks.

Sources said that the Indian Army is not reducing its guard in view of the disintegration process in the area and will continue to maintain a high level of vigilance to deal with any incident.

According to the decisions reached at the Corps Commander-level talks on June 30, the two sides would create a minimum three-kilometer buffer area in most areas where they were in deadlock. A source said, “Sufficient evacuation of Chinese troops from Hot Springs and Gogra Hui. The Chinese sector has also demolished temporary infrastructure in the regions. ” The Chinese Army has already removed the tents and withdrawn its personnel from patrol point 14 in the Galwan Valley, with sources saying that the Indian Army is fully verifying the Chinese bridge back.
