Chinese diplomat linked Ladakh border dispute with article 370

Beijing: A Chinese diplomat appeared to suggest that the Ladakh standoff between Indian and Chinese border troops was linked to New Delhi’s decision to scrap Article 370 last year.

Wang Xianfeng, a spokesman of the Chinese embassy in Pakistan, tweeted that an article by a scholar from an influential think tank affiliated with China’s ministry of state security, which suggested that link between the standoff and abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

He tweeted that the sovereignty of China and Pakistan have been challenged by India’s actions of unilaterally changing the status quo of Kashmir. In that way, the nation continues to exacerbate regional tensions as well as the India-Pakistan relations and China-India relations have been made more complex.

Reports suggested that Wang was associated with Pakistani authorities while others suggested that he tweeted his personal opinion.

Indian and Chinese authorities have been conversing to resolve the border issues along Line of Actual Control (LAC) diplomatically.

Union government announced the abrogation of Article 370 last year, Jammu and Kashmir have been bifurcated into union territories Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
