
An anonymous individual made a threat call to the Mumbai police traffic control centre today, claiming that the lives of 19 people at Mumbai’s international airport were in jeopardy, according to an official.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, a dog squad, and a fast reaction team raced to the airport and searched the premises after getting the call on Tuesday afternoon.
They also notified the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), but no suspicious activity was discovered, according to Press Trust of India.
The caller, who has yet to be identified, said that the “lives of 19 individuals from a department” at Mumbai’s Sahar international airport were in danger, according to an official who spoke to Press Trust of India without providing any more specifics.

The Sahar police then filed a complaint against the anonymous caller under Indian Penal Code Sections 505(1)(b) (intent to create, or likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public) and 506(2) (penalty for criminal intimidation), he said, adding that they were working to apprehend the caller.
