Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked King Jigme Singye Wangchuck for bestowing the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan’s highest civilian honour, on him on Friday. He also praised Lotay Tshering, his Bhutanese counterpart, for his comments, adding he was “very moved” by the heartfelt gesture on Bhutan’s National Day. PM Modi was honoured by Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck for his remarkable contribution to bilateral ties and services to the Bhutanese nation and people. Lotay Tshering, Bhutan’s prime minister, said he was “overjoyed to hear His Majesty speak Your Excellency Modiji’s name for the highest civilian medal” when announcing the award. According to Tshering, the King praised PM Modi for his “unconditional friendship and support” throughout the years, especially “during the epidemic.”
