Assembly Elections in 5 states from Mar 27 to Apr 29, results on May 2

  • Voting in 8 phases in West Bengal, first phase on March 27

New Delhi: Election dates for the assembly of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry have been announced. At the press conference on Friday, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has said that Corona’s guidelines will be fully followed during the elections. He also saluted the warriors of Corona during this time. He said that all elections will be held keeping Corona in mind.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that it is very difficult to conduct elections due to Covid. 18.6 crore voters will vote in 2.7 lakh booths in 824 assembly constituencies of 5 states. Elections will be held keeping Corona in mind. Enthusiasts of electoral states started. The commission said that West Bengal will go to polls in 8 phases. There will be three phase elections in Assam. Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will be voting in one phase. Counting will be done simultaneously in all the states.

The most talked about election this year is the West Bengal assembly elections. There are 294 total assembly seats here. West Bengal will be voting in 8 phases. Bengal will go to polls in the first phase on March 27. The second phase will be held on April 1. The third phase of voting on April 6, fourth phase voting on April 10, fifth phase voting on April 17, sixth phase polling on April 22, seventh phase polling 26 and final phase polling April 29. The results will be out on 2 May.

The Tamil Nadu assembly elections will be held in a single phase on 6 April, with the counting of votes on 2 May. Elections will be held in Kerala on 6 April. The counting of votes will take place on 2 May. Puducherry assembly elections will be held in the same phase on 6 April, counting of votes will be done on 2 May.

Assam assembly elections will be held in three phases. Voting for the first phase – March 27, voting for the second phase will be on April 1 and for the third phase on April 6. The date of counting of votes is 2 May.
