Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, attacked the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday for handling the investigation into the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, alleging that it was offering “bouquet” to the perpetrators instead of bringing them to justice.

The opposition leader’s comments came just hours after Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra, appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) created in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
On Friday, Ashish Mishra was expected to appear in front of the police, but he did not. The Uttar Pradesh Police subsequently served him with a new summons, requesting that he appear before them by 11 a.m. on Saturday.
According to the former UP chief minister, officials, including those in the local intelligence unit and administration, must have had information that such an occurrence may occur. Despite this, he claims, the farmers died.

He sought Ajay Mishra’s resignation from the Union Council of Ministers, accusing the UP government of hiding the guilty. Families of those who have been wronged desire justice and retribution for the perpetrators.
