
Dara Singh Chauhan, a BJP leader and an Uttar Pradesh minister, resigned from Yogi Adityanath‘s cabinet on Wednesday, this happens a day after Swami Prasad Maurya left.
Former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav welcomed him in his party and tweeted, “Hearty welcome and greetings to Shri Dara Singh Chauhan ji, the unrelenting fighter of the movement for social justice.” He added, “The SP and its supporters will work together to further the equality movement… Discrimination must be eliminated! This is our commitment as a group! Respect for everyone’s personal space!”

This comes a day after OBC leader and five-term MLA Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from Yogi Adityanath’s administration as Minister for Labour and Employment and appeared to be on his way to the rival SP, posing for a photo with party chief Akhilesh Yadav shortly after.
At least three other BJP MLAs, Roshan Lal Verma, Brijesh Prajapati, and Bhagwati Prasad Sagar, have stated that they will join Maurya, who has stated that more BJP MLAs will join him.

“As Forest, Environment, and Animal Horticulture Minister in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji’s cabinet, I worked wholeheartedly for the betterment of my department,” Chauhan wrote in his resignation letter, “but the government’s attitude toward backward, deprived, Dalits, farmers, and unemployed youth was very neglectful.” I withdraw from the Uttar Pradesh government because of the shambles surrounding backward and Dalit reservation.”
