According to the Maharashtra Jail Authority, all positive-found inmates will be shifted to GT Hospital and St. George’s Hospital in guard vehicles on Friday morning while staff members will be shifted to different locations.
Significantly, on Thursday morning, a senior IPS officer had confirmed that about 40 other people had been found positive in the Corona virus investigation at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai, including undertrials and jail officials. At the same time, he also feared that the number of jail infected could increase.
However, a day earlier, the Maharashtra jail had reported that an accused arrested under the Narcotics Drugs Act was found positive in the Corona investigation, after which the second incident came to light on Thursday morning and for the third time 7 jail staff including 72 inmates in the jail Kovid has been found to be positive.
Two other staff of the jail, who are said to have stayed in the guest house of the nearby Byculla Jail, were also found to be Corona positive in the investigation on Tuesday, which the jail staff had taken to JJ Hospital with an inmate.
