Why can’t a girl and boy be just friends in Rishton Ka Manjha?

Today we will talk about a new serial Rishton Ka Manjha that has the lead hero and heroine getting trapped by their relatives for being friends. Arjun, an impulsive man is the badminton coach of Diya and they have a match to attend on the same day of their respective marriages. However, things backfire when Arjun comes to Diya’s marriage and gets trapped by her relatives who accuse him of having an affair with Diya in the name of playing badminton.

It’s a double century for ‘Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti’

Arjun doesn’t get disturbed but Diya whose marriage breaks off is emotionally disturbed as her relatives accuse her character and her parents’ upbringing in front of all the guests of the wedding. Arjun’s to-be-wife is also upset to see Arjun leaving the marriage venue just so that he can take Diya for an important badminton match. One of the women in Diya’s marriage venue keeps telling the same thing over and again that “ek ladka aur ek ladki kabhi dost nahi ho sakte”.

India lose 0-5 to China in Sudirman Cup badminton

This irks Arjun who impulsively gets married to Diya in the upcoming episodes. Diya being from a middle-class in the serial will have to bridge the class gap along with fulfilling her dream to become a successful badminton player. Why does it happen that on television, a serial has to, again and again, promote that a hero and heroine can never be long-term friends and they have to get married to save their names in society?

What makes a love story hit on television? Is it just the old-age concept of starting off as friends and then getting married just because society cannot see a man and a woman just as “Good friends”. This kind of thinking not only differs from the reality where a woman and a man can be really good friends for life but it also leaves a bad impression on the minds of many youngsters who get afraid to become friends with the opposite gender.
