Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Leo’ is all set to break the box office records with its release in different states at different timings. Yeah, the much expected, hyped about, and controversial movie Leo is all set to release at 4 AM IST on 19 October in Kerala and Karnataka. Whereas, in Tamil Nadu, the film will be releasing at 9 AM. On the other hand, the government of Puducherry has allowed the film to be released at 7 am. However, the first day first show of the film will start at 9 am in the national capital of New Delhi.
Unfortunately, Leo’s Telugu release has a challenge to overcome as the city civil court has passed an order to stop the release of the movie till 20 October. The makers of Leo were challenged by Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainment who said that he has the rights to the name Leo and thus, the filmmakers must change the name.
Whether Leo is a part of the LCU, which means Lokesh Cinematic Universe, its answer will be revealed tomorrow. Now even before the film’s release, there are several reports claiming that Leo has already made Rs 100 crore gross in advance booking in the country itself with its versions in all languages. The worldwide collection is expected to be in the range of Rs 145 crore to Rs 150 crore.
Sacnilk said the thriller movie may make around Rs 32 crore in Tamil Nadu on Day 1. This is despite the Tamil Nadu government not allowing the theatres to feature the early morning shows. Then the media portal has also claimed that Leo will make Rs 12.5 crore in Kerala, Rs 14.5 crore in Karnataka, Rs 17 crore in the Telugu states and Rs 4 crore in rest parts of the country. Total India gross is possibly going to be Rs 80 crore while Rs 65 crore could be made from overseas markets, said Sacnilk. This is only if the word of mouth publicity from the audience of day 1 turns out to be amazing. Leo is estimated to make a double digit opening in each of the four South Indian states, said the report.
The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directorial will have its Telugu release on 19 October as planned said the producer S Naga Vamsi at a press conference in Hyderabad. The suit at the local court was dismissed after the outside-the-court settlement was agreed by both the parties.
The idea behind early morning shows was only to provide a grand movie-watching experience on the first day of the first show. However, few governments in South India didn’t approve of the same.
The film Leo will mark a reunion between Vijay and Lokesh after they worked together as actor-director in their blockbuster movie Master. Leo will also mark the reunion of Trisha and Vijay who have earlier worked in movies like ‘Ghilli’, ‘Kuruvi’, ‘Thirupaachi’ and ‘Aathi’. The action thriller is also going to see remarkable performances of Arjun and Sanjay Dutt who will be locking horns with Vijay in the film.
