Although Main Atal Hoon makes a sincere and modest attempt to highlight the former Prime Minister’s journey, Pankaj Tripathi’s outstanding performance is the highlight. Apni ashi ankain bnd krke, to sat samnadra par hai koi suntan tha, jb wo puri bat bolte the. Featuring national award-winning director Ravi Jhadav in the lead role of Pankaj Tripathi. Principal Atal Hoon doesn’t rely on base patriotism or enhancing the reputation of any particular politician or political party. It still portrays Atal’s journey with accuracy. The film traces Atal’s early years of a strong interest in poems, his law studies, his work as an editor, his time as an activist for freedom,  and his eventual entry into politics. Kudos to Pankaj for his flawless performance, which so convincingly and confidently brings Atal’s legacy to life on the big screen. Recording an existence well lived.

Though the second half of the movie is a little uneven and feels a little rushed towards the finish, I still enjoy how the film depicts the intricate build-up of Atal’s journey.

Ravi establishes the moos for the tale by showing a scene from his early years in which a young Atal is shown reciting a poem on the Taj Mahal in his enthralling manner. A few years later, when he is all grown up, he stealthily ascends a building at midnight to swap out the English flag for the tricolor of India. This action reveals a playful side to his nature. Atal is one of the most watchful and involved members of Rashtriya Seva Sangh (RSS), and he wants his action to have an impact. Lastly, he receives raucous applause for his speeches in Parliament as a politician.

A pivotal scene in which PM Atal and his

The minister’s debate over whether to propose peace or go to war with Pakistan opens the movie. He always puts his country first because he is an idealist and believes in improving relations with neighboring nations, but he will stop at nothing to stop the enemy from taking advantage of his vulnerability.

While there are moments when the Hindi dialogue may be a little too much to comprehend, thankfully, you never have to Google the meaning. Main Atal Hoon confines itself, for the most part, to being a documentary of significant occasions that served as a spur to Atal’s career. The movie appears to take a page out of our history books at various points, depicting events like the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the 1953 attack in Kashmir, the 1962 war with China, the 1963 war with Pakistan, the Emergency in 1975, and so forth. In order to illustrate Atal’s journey and contribution, it must have been crucial to include a brief account of each of these events. Although Man Atak Hoon makes a sincere and modest attempt to present Atal’s journey and tell his story, Pankaj’s outstanding performance shines through, as the storytelling falls short.
