Putting the guessing game to rest; Gujarati film Chhello Show has made it to Oscars 95th edition making it India’s official entry. It beats box office hit and high profile movies like RRR, Anupam Kher-starrer The Kashmir Files and Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatts Brahmastra .
The President of Film Federation;TP Aggarwal said, “The jury chose the movie ‘Chhello Show’ in a mutual consent out of the 13 films including six in Hindi language – The Kashmir Files, Anek, Jhund, Badhaai Do, Brahmastra and Rocketry– and one each in Tamil (Iravin Nizhal), Telugu (RRR), Bengali (Aparajito) and Gujarati (Chhello Show) and a few others from the latest releases.”
The movie, Chhello Show is directed by Film maker Pan Nalin and features Bhavin Rabri, Richa Meena, Vikas Bata, Bhavesh Shrimali, Dipen Raval and Rahul Koli in pivotal roles. The film’s story revolves around a young boy in Gujarat which is inspired by Nalin’s memories of falling in love with movies as a child in Gujarat’s Saurashtra village.
Pan Nalin, the filmmaker has directed some of th best known films like Samsara, Angry Indian Goddesses and Valley of Flowers in his career.
Speaking on the Oscars 2023 nomination, Pan Nalin said in a statement, “I had never imagined I will get to see such a day that would come and brighten me up and cbring elebration of light. ‘Chhello Show’ is being loved by people around the world but there was an ache in my heart on how do I make India discover it? Now I canfreely breathe again and firmly believe in the magic of cinema that entertains, inspires and enlightens! Thank you FFI, Thank you Jury.”
Some netizens are protesting and leading conversations on internet as they feel Junior NTR and Ram Charan-starrer magnum opus RRR should have been sent for Oscars.
