Many times we indulge in negative self-beliefs and self-talks that hamper our progress and affect the quality of our overall life. Self-talk is when we keep talking to ourselves if not verbally then the thoughts that keep generating in our minds about ourselves. People with low self-esteem are usually found to have this habit of negative self-talk because they keep living in a comfort zone that is self-imposed by their thoughts and limited thinking.
Negative self-talk does not allow a person to give his 100% best to any task and thus, leaves him behind everyone else in any aspect of life. Common examples of negative self-talk include when a fat person wants to dance, and people start laughing or teasing him for the earthquake to happen as the fat person has started dancing. This kind of discouragement even in the form of jokes can leave a huge bad mark in the minds of many people and thus, one should be strong enough to overcome this sort of verbal abuse. Now, what happens if the person is mentally weak, he thinks of this remark on his dance as a stamp and quits dancing even if he likes the hobby. This kind of behavior affects the person’s growth and development, thus making him look forward to adopting practices like positive self-talk.
In a positive thinking process, a person trains himself to appreciate him as he is and accept his flaws and weaknesses. He works towards improving himself rather than quitting himself in doing any activity that he is not good at. Positive self-talk is that process wherein a person remembers good things and strengths about himself that does not allow him to stop or give up any task in the middle of it. He keeps always thinking of what he can achieve more rather than thinking of what he cannot do in his life.
