A career or job or profession is that part of our life, which gives us an identity and defines us for the rest of our lives. From childhood, we go to schools and dedicate the majority of our time to schoolwork so that we can understand ourselves better and choose a career that will help us lead better lives. It is not that parents or teachers have no role to play in shaping our future. But 70 percent of what we choose in terms of our specializations in our academics helps us to define our jobs and work accordingly.

So, there was this debate wherein children of this generation were questioned by youngsters and middle-aged people of previous generations of why their school fees are hiked wherein what they pay for one year is equal to the lifetime expenses of schooling of previous generations. To this, the argument goes that whatever previous generations learned in their schools and colleges was not as advanced as what the current generation kids learn and are exposed to.

In this never-ending debate, one needs to also note how education is not just limited to books and experiences of a particular section of society but it is beyond discovering our true abilities and knowing what we are made of. For example, if a child really is passionate about creating artwork like paintings, pottery, etc. on his own, the child’s parents need to come up with ideas wherein they can encourage their child to develop their natural ability and skills.
We need not force the child to make it a career unless the child himself is firm that what he wants to do in life is what makes him happy. So, here we go about happiness in a career. You might have seen how super-successful people despite coming from no interest in doing what they are doing now in their jobs are forced to smile in public spaces and give mantras or secrets of their success. Not every success story comes with hard work and neither does every effort lead to success. Doing what makes a person happy will spread positive vibes and attract better lifestyle habits.
The bottom line of these varied views is that one must follow their passions with whole dedication and never doubt their abilities unless it is causing harm to someone abruptly. If you meet any child or youngster this Diwali, encourage him or her to be themselves in this world that is trying to change the natural abilities of people in the name of “transformation”. You can either give them an idea of how they can carry out their hobbies or set an example to others by doing what makes you happy so that there will be more people like you who will listen to their hearts and minds while choosing their job or profession. Just imagine how the world will become beautiful when each one does a job with whole heart, interest, and focus into it.
