Shiv Nadar University becomes first private varsity to be legislated in Tamil Nadu

The Shiv Nadar University, that has been built by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, is going to be the first private varsity to be legislated in Tamil Nadu after 90 years.

The University boasts of becoming the first private university to be legislated in Tamil Nadu since the Annamalai University, in 1928.

Set up by Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL, a USD 9.9 billion enterprise., the university has been developed near Chennai.

R Srinivasan, co-founder of Chennai-based supply chain solutions company Redington India Ltd, would serve as the Chancellor of the university

Kala Vijayakumar would be working as the pro-chancellor of the University. She had an important role in looking after the SSN Institutions since its start.

Former RBI Governor C Rangarajan and Turing Award holder Raj Reddy would be the honourable mentors of the university.

The university recently has started taking admissions for four programmes under school of engineering, school of commerce and management for the academic session 2021-22.

The university has facilities such as academic and research blocks, stadium, library, sports centre, hostel for students and others.

The University also has plans to launch specialised courses in areas of engineering and commerce in April 2021.

It also has ideas to start a four-year undergraduate programme in business management in 2022-23.
