With the number of active COVID-19 cases in Kerala beginning to reduce in recent days, the state government agreed on Friday to begin offline sessions for pupils on February 7.

“Classes for pupils in grades 10, 11, and 12, as well as college students, will begin on February 7. Classes for children in grades 1 through 9, as well as creche and kindergarten, will begin on February 14 “According to a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The government had already imposed district-level limits based on the number of COVID-affected patients admitted to hospitals, and the Disaster Management Authority had been authorised to split the districts into three groups, A, B, and C. Only the Kollam district is currently in the C category, which means it will face the most limitations.
The B category includes Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad, and Kannur, whereas the A category includes Malappuram and Kozhikode. Kasaragod is not included in any of these categories.

Social, cultural, religious, political, and public events, as well as weddings and funerals, can draw up to 50 persons in areas classified as A. In the B and C category districts, such meetings will be prohibited. Religious worship should be conducted solely online in such regions, with marriages and funerals limited to a maximum of 20 persons. The C category districts do not allow movie theatres, swimming pools, or gyms to operate.
