With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination just days away, authorities have implemented one of the strictest security plans ever for a national entrance exam to ensure a leak-free and fair test.
According to reports, all experts involved in preparing, moderating, and translating the NEET re-exam question paper have been moved to a secure undisclosed location and placed under complete lockdown until the exam concludes on June 21.
Under the special security protocol, paper setters have been cut off from the outside world. Mobile phones, laptops, smartwatches, internet access, and other communication devices have been banned. Their movement is being closely monitored, and only authorised personnel are allowed access to the facility.
The move comes after allegations of a paper leak led to the cancellation of the original NEET-UG exam, affecting more than 22 lakh students across the country.
Officials said the lockdown of paper setters is part of a larger security framework designed to protect every stage of the examination process. This includes question paper preparation, translation, printing, packaging, storage, transportation, and distribution.
Authorities have also divided responsibilities among different teams so that no single person has access to the entire process, reducing the risk of leaks.
Transportation of question papers is also under special scrutiny. Reports suggest that high-security logistics arrangements, including the possible use of military resources, have been considered to ensure safe delivery of exam materials.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that the re-exam paper has already been leaked. The agency called such reports false and warned students and parents against falling for scams or misinformation.
Officials are monitoring social media platforms, messaging apps, and online groups around the clock to identify fake question papers and misleading content.
The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be held in pen-and-paper mode on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm.
The re-test is being seen as a crucial challenge for the NTA and the government, which are aiming to restore public confidence after weeks of controversy surrounding the earlier examination.
For millions of students, the June 21 exam is not just another test, it is an opportunity for the authorities to prove that the country’s largest medical entrance examination can be conducted fairly, securely, and transparently.
