- A Diploma course in Early Childhood Special Education Hearing Impairment
Meerut: Mainstream education becomes a major challenge for children with hearing impairment, and in most cases they are not able to cope with other children. In order to break this barrier, and provide early intervention in education, Balavidyalaya – the school for deaf young children, aims to help infant and young children acquire language and speech skills.
The school gives free intensive training for infants and young children (below 3 years of age) with a dedicated team of teachers who conduct training sessions with the infants and young children. The teacher pupil ratio does not increase beyond 1:4 thereby ensuring an individualized programme.
Balavidyalaya Institute for Teacher Training is managed by Balavidyalaya Trust, a registered non-profit charitable Trust, where the trainee candidates get trained under the institute, and are equipped to help the young children develop language and speech. The Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education Hearing Impairment will develop competence and proficiency in teachers to make optimum use of the residual hearing in infants and young children with the help of hearing aids / implants.
The trainee candidates will also be able to counsel and guide family members to accept the challenge posed by hearing loss in the children and prepare the children to get integrated into the mainstream education.
The Minimum Qualification for Admission is the completion of 12th std , with aggregate marks of 50% or above in both the tenth and the twelfth. The candidate has to register with the Rehabilitation Council of India under the All India Aptitude Test (AIOT).
The course duration is for one academic year from June to April.
