New Delhi: So far, the reported cases of corona virus in the country are close to 45.5 lakhs, but the truth is that till May only about 64 lakhs corona cases have been reported in India. This has been revealed in the results of the first round of Sero Survey conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). These surveys were conducted between 11 May and 4 June. About 28 thousand people from 21 states were involved in this survey.

It was found in the survey that by the end of May, 64,68,388 people had been infected in the country. It was seen in the survey that the highest virus infection was seen in 43.3 percent of people aged 18 to 45 years. After this, 39.5 percent of people aged 46 to 60 years. At the same time, 17.2 percent people after 60 years were involved. From the survey, it was estimated that there were 82–130 infections in India to confirm every single case of corona by RT-PCR test. It has also been found from the sero survey that about 44 lakh people of the village have been infected with corona.

According to the results of the survey, the highest positivity by area was in the rural areas with 69.4 percent. Positiveness was 15.9 percent in urban slums, 14.6 percent in urban non-slum areas. Concern has also increased about the spread of infection in rural areas, because there is lack of medical facilities. 65 percent of India’s 1.3 billion population is in villages.
