The Delhi Police has a force of about 80,000 officers. Rakesh Asthana, the Commissioner of Delhi Police, recently announced a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to avoid the spread of the coronavirus among police officers.

This comes as the Omicron type of the coronavirus has caused a significant increase in daily COVID cases in India, especially in cities like Delhi.

Meanwhile, the state reported 22,751 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Officials claimed the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) opted not to enforce a lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on Monday and explored additional restrictions like closing dine-in restaurants and reducing seating capacity in Metro trains and buses.
