According to initial reports, the plane was operated by Air India because a substantial number of passengers tested positive for Covid-19. This version was refuted by the airline. “Several news outlets stated that passengers on an Air India trip from Rome to Amritsar tested positive for Covid. This is false and unfounded. “At this time, Air India does not operate any flights from Rome,” the airline tweeted. According to an airline official, Air India hasn’t flown this route in months.
