Lucknow: Cases of black fungus are increasing continuously in the capital Lucknow. The cases of black fungus have now increased to 508 in King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. Spokesperson of KGMU, Dr Sudhir said that out of 508 black fungus patients, about 373 have been operated on.

Talking about the death figures due to black fungus, about 61 people have lost their lives due to this disease.

According to Dr Sudhir, the Mycology Center, established at KGMU, is the first center in Uttar Pradesh where fungus and genome testing is being done. With the establishment of the Mycology Center at King George’s Medical University, the level of antifungal drugs in the blood is detected. After which the right treatment is tested, which will reduce the side effects of anti fungal drugs.

Black fungus or mucormycosis is a type of fungal infection. Patients who have recovered from the corona virus are at greatest risk. This disease spreads easily in those people who are already battling with some disease or the other. Those whose immunity is weak, this disease easily takes them under its control.
