Get new covid norms for market, restaurants and school from Friday issued by DDMA

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority agreed on Thursday to suspend the weekend curfew that had been enforced in the wake of the growing Covid-19 cases in the national capital. The odd-even pattern of non-essential store openings has also been abolished. On Thursday night, the most recent order was issued.

  • To the degree possible, all government offices will be staffed entirely by officers of Grade 1 and higher. Other employees will work in the office up to 50% of the time, while the remaining 50% will work from home. Essential departments will be fully operational.
  • In markets, market complexes, and malls, shops and institutions selling non-essential goods and services will be allowed to open at any time between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., regardless of odd-even restrictions.
  • Cinema halls/theatres/multiplexes are permitted to open to 50% of their seating capacity. All the protocols should be followed. 
  • From 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., restaurants may use up to 50% of their seating capacity.
  • From 12 p.m. until 10 p.m., bars may have up to 50% of their seating capacity.
  • Marriage festivities may be held up to 50% of the venue’s capacity, with a maximum of 200 people. The halls should be kept locked unless they are being used for weddings.
  • Funeral-related events can have up to 100 people.
  • There will be no weekend curfew, but the night curfew will remain in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. every day.
  • Schools, educational institutes, and gyms will be shuttered because the directive makes no mention of them. On Wednesday, Education Minister Manish Sisodia met with a group of parents of children and agreed to their demand for schools to reopen. He stated that he believes schools should be reopened because the children are suffering.

On Thursday, Delhi reported 4,291 new cases, and records reveal that it only took 10 days for the national capital’s daily case count to fall below 10,000. The number of new cases per day peaked on January 13 with 28,867 new cases.
