New Delhi: In view of the fear that the third wave of the corona epidemic may affect children, the government and vaccine manufacturing companies are working fast. According to information received from sources, the trial of Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech and ICMR on children will now start at AIIMS in New Delhi from Monday. Earlier, trial on children has started in Patna AIIMS. According to the information, 18 children have been called to Delhi AIIMS for trial on Monday.
Patna AIIMS started the trial of Covaxin on children last week. Children between the ages of 2 and 18 are included in this trial. A few days ago, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the second and third phase clinical trials of Covaxin on children.
Delhi has also been selected as a site of trial. Apart from Delhi, trials of Covaxin are being done on children at Patna AIIMS and Nagpur’s Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences. The trial going on in Patna AIIMS involves children between the ages of 12 and 18. After this, there will be a trial of Covaxin on children of 6-12 years. Then the number of children of 2-6 years will come.
