According to the Centre, 39 districts in the country had a weekly Covid positivity rate of above 10% in the week ending August 31, while 38 districts had a rate of between 5% and 10%. According to the Union Health Ministry, 16 percent of India’s adult population has been completely vaccinated against Covid-19. According to him, over 54% of the adult population has gotten at least one vaccination dosage.

According to Bhushan, Himachal Pradesh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Sikkim have given the first dose of coronavirus vaccine to 100 percent of their 18-year-old population. Meanwhile, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that around 300 cases of SARS-CoV-2 delta plus variant had been discovered in India so far. Today, India recorded the largest single-day increase in coronavirus infections in two months, as the government is concerned about the virus spreading from Kerala, schools reopening, and the start of the festival season.

Kerala is one of the states with more than 100,000 active Covid-19 cases. MaharashtraKarnatakaTamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh are the four states with 10,000 to 1 lakh active cases. According to the Union Health Secretary, the rest of the states/UTs have fewer than 10,000 active cases. After consulting with his colleagues in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, which border Kerala, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in a statement that “appropriate efforts should be made to prevent the inter-state spread of Covid-19.”

He requested that immunization be increased in the areas around Kerala. India has given out 662 million doses so far, with 54 percent of its 944 million people receiving at least one dosage and 16 percent receiving the minimum two doses. Regarding the resumption of Covid vaccine exports, Bhushan stated that India would begin selling vaccines only when its interests were addressed. Since mid-April, India has prohibited the export of Covid vaccinations
