Panaji: In the morning, 26 Korana patients died in the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) operated by the Goa government. Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane gave this information on Tuesday. He said that the case should be investigated by the High Court to find out the exact cause of death.
According to Rane, these patients died between two o’clock in the night and six o’clock in the morning “which is a fact”, but the cause of death is not clear. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who visited GMCH, had said, “Due to the difference between the availability of medical oxygen and its supply to Covid-19 ward in GMCH, patients have had some problems.” He also stressed that there is no shortage of oxygen in the state.
On the other hand, Rane, while talking to reporters, on Monday acknowledged the lack of oxygen supply at GMCH. After the Chief Minister’s GMCH visit, the Health Minister said, ‘The High Court should investigate to find out the appropriate causes of death. HC should intervene in the matter and prepare white paper (white paper) regarding supply of oxygen to GMCH, which will help in fixing things. ‘
Rane said that on Monday, 1200 large cylinders of medical oxygen were needed here, but only 400 were supplied. He said that the three-member team of nodal officers formed by the Government of Goa to monitor the treatment of Covid-19 at GMCH should inform the Chief Minister in this regard.
