Guwahati: The Assam government has announced a complete lockdown in Guwahati from Monday for the next two weeks in view of the growing corona case in the state. Also, State Health Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma has said on Friday that curfew will be imposed for 12 hours from 7 pm today. He has said that 762 corona patients have been confirmed since last June 15 in Guwahati. Of this, 677 people have no travel history. These people may have come in contact with them during this lockdown from other states. The complete lockdown will be implemented from Monday in Kamrup district, which also includes the city of Guwahati.

State Health Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma said that 276 new cases were registered in the state on Thursday, out of which 133 cases came from Guwahati. The state health minister said, “Now we have no option but to implement full lockdown for 14 days from midnight on 28 June. This time the lockdown will be very strict. No grocery stores of any kind will be opened for the first seven days, nor will it be allowed to supply fruits and vegetables. Apart from this, other necessary things will be allowed.

In other cities, the state government has imposed full lockdown on the last day of the week. This rule became effective from 27 June. This command will be kept in force until the corona virus comes under control.

The Health Minister has said that it will be reviewed after a full lockdown strictly enforced for seven days. Only emergency services will be allowed during full lockdown. A total of 6,646 cases of Corona have been registered in the state so far of which 2,601 are active cases and 9 people have died.
