Work design, which is also known as Job design is the procedure of work organization related to the duties that are required to do a particular job. Job design involves organizing roles, duties, and responsibilities into a category of work so that certain goals can be accomplished. A Human Resources Manager should have a huge interest in the designing of individual roles in the company. Job design is about the methodology in which the tasks are mixed to form the whole job at the workplace. Job redesign is all about changing the existing job and introducing the changes to the team members.

If there is a job design created then the job analysis can be done well. Job analysis gives updates about what kind of skills and abilities are needed to do a job perfectly. Job design aims to provide job satisfaction and work productivity. Jobs that are designed badly usually result in higher employee turnover, job dissatisfaction, reduced productivity, boredom at work, and even increases in the cost associated with the company. Job design is a way to create a balance between what is required to do at work and the existing human resource qualities.

Job design helps to specify the content at the workplace such as work methods, skills, abilities, knowledge, tasks, and functions that are needed to perform the job, and rewards that the employees will be gaining after completing the job. Job design is quite effective if it has the logical sequence of the job analysis process made.
There are four strategies for job design such as job rotation, job enrichment, job enlargement, and job simplification. A good job design leads to lower turnover and absenteeism, high work quality, high job satisfaction, and higher motivation to stay productive at the workplace. A good job description should be created by performing a job analysis, setting up the important functions of work, organizing the information precisely and concisely, adding disclaimer and signature so that the candidates are aware of the same, and then finalizing the JD to roll it out officially on different platforms.
Job design features include task identification, task importance, independence to do the work, work feedback, and different types of skills to do the job. The more the work is made interesting, the more the staff are interested to do the work and stay motivated. The work allocation, location, sequencing, and communication with the environment and the people are some of the aspects of the job design.
For example, if a Business Manager’s job description is written well by the employer, job seekers looking for such roles will be able to comprehend the work well. Job seekers will be able to understand the work that is required to be done to them. The required skills, technical abilities, and educational qualifications need to be mentioned by the employer well. The Business Manager position is quite an important one and if flexibility to achieve the targets is made then the right talent can be attracted for the role.
