Emphasis is when a special consideration is given to a particular thing or person or event. Emphasis means to value or prominence or attention given to a particular set of words when speaking or writing about a particular thing. For example, the teacher emphasized the particular topic in English subject because she knew that this question is most likely asked in the school exams. The students noted down the answer as soon as they understood the importance given by the teacher on the topic she was teaching.

Same way, during a meeting, the team leader emphasized that the work targets have to be met on a quarterly basis by all team members because the main boss has ordered the same.
