A panic attack is a quick episode of severe fear that occurs in a person. A panic attack makes the person think that there are physical reactions going to happen like a danger to the person or possible cause. However, no such thing is there in reality. Panic attacks are quite dangerous for the person who goes through the same. When panic attacks happen, a person may think that he is losing control of the situation or his life. He may also feel that he is having a heart attack or even is going to die soon.

Panic attacks appear due to anxiety issues in a person. A panic attack may make the person feel disoriented, go through irregular heartbeats, have a dry mouth, feel breathless, go through dizziness, and make him feel as if his body is shaking. The symptoms of a panic attack are not severe or life-threatening for others but the person who goes through panic attacks may feel as if his life is going to end.

Panic attacks can be treated by self such as by quitting the intake of alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and recreational drugs. It can also help a person avoid getting anxious about small things in life. Getting regular sleep is very important for people having panic attack issues. Deep breathing, yoga, and meditation are some of the techniques that a person can undertake to avoid getting panic attacks.

In order to avoid having a panic attack, a person can go through counseling. He can even take medications prescribed by a doctor or health professional or psychologist. He or she can use deep breathing exercises to come back to normal. He can practice mindfulness and search for a focus object so that his panic attacks reduce over a period of time.

Intense emotions can be experienced by people going through panic attacks. It is natural for them to feel like crying or sitting sadly in one place. Panic attacks are said to be caused due to chemical imbalances in the brain and genetic disorders. Panic disorders can affect people after the age of 18 and there is no race or gender required for panic attacks to appear. There are several environmental factors that make panic attacks come.

If you are someone who is going through panic attacks quite often or have a friend or relative having panic attacks, you can help yourself or them in these ways. Once you feel that you are getting a panic attack, you can search for a silent place to sit down or lie down. Then you can keep one hand on your stomach and one hand on your chest. You can do slow and deep breathing through your nose and exhale your breath through your mouth. You can notice your hands how to move and repeat the procedure for many minutes till you feel relaxed.

You can even switch your mobile to read some funny jokes or listen to interesting or inspiring songs. This will put things in perspective and you will get clarity on what you want to do next.
