New Delhi: Chairman of All India Power Engineers Federation, Shailendra Dubey has said that the announcement of privatization of power distribution in the budget has caused anger among the power workers and there is great disappointment due to no relief in income tax.
He said that in the name of ending the monopoly of power distribution companies, the presence of more than one power distribution companies in a region clearly means that at present the power supply will be given to private companies in addition to the government electricity companies.
He said that after this, private power companies will use the network of government distribution companies without making any investment in the network. Not only this, private companies will only provide electricity to profitable industrial and commercial establishments and the government companies will be forced to provide electricity to the deficit rural and domestic consumers. The financial condition of the state-run power companies already struggling with the economic crisis will worsen. As a result, farmers and domestic consumers will incur a deficit burden and eventually electricity will become expensive for these consumers.
Condemning the announcement of complete privatization of public sector in the budget, he said that this budget is completely privatized and the budget of corporate houses. He said that it is very unfortunate and disappointing not to give any relief in income tax to the employees already suffering the freeze of dearness allowance.
